MAJOR RETAILERS JOIN POPAI TO SUPPORT MARKETING AT RETAIL

Eight of Australia's major retailers have teamed up with the global association for marketing at retail, POPAI Australia and New Zealand, to support the 10th anniversary of its Marketing at Retail Awards.

7-Eleven, Myer, McDonalds, Optus, Priceline, The Just Group, Repco and Australian Geographic will work with POPAI Australia and New Zealand as part of its inaugural Retail Partner Programme which is designed to promote the engagement of retailers within the industry.

As part of this new initiative, senior retail executives have been invited to join the expert judging panel for the Awards and attend, as VIP guests, the gala dinner which will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, 21st September.

General Manager of POPAI Australia and New Zealand, Karen Spear, said this is an exciting time for the company.

"I'm absolutely delighted that some of Australia's retail giants are on board to support our events and help us continue to grow the strength and prominence of the Marketing at Retail industry," Ms Spear said.

General Manager, Visual Brand for Myer, Wayne Latham, said POPAI's annual Marketing at Retail Awards is a great initiative for the retail marketing industry.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to reward excellence and a fantastic forum to share and compare best practice. I am pleased to be part of the judging panel in a year where the standard of entries is so high," Mr Latham said.

The Marketing at Retail Awards have been developed to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in channel specific in-store marketing by highlighting innovation in design and manufacturing techniques and promoting best practice solutions for retail marketing.

Award entries can be previewed at POPAI's Marketing at Retail Expo on 20-22 September at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour.
